The first release is an album by one of our all time favorite songwriters Stephen Steinbrink. There also is a new single from Martha Rose & GRIP TIGHT, we revisit Pictorial Candi's resonant second album. We're also hosting two shows in Berlin this September! new sub label! Stephen Steinbrink ‘In a Split Mirror‘ album out October 30th
It was about time. We've been a label for a while now, and most labels eventually do this so here we are, starting a sub label. It's called Sedimentary Archive, and the idea is to untether M&M's mission of seeking out exciting leftfield pop from any single geography. For the first release we picked someone very special: Stephen Steinbrink has spent two decades refining a singular voice as a West Coast songwriter, one marked by rare poetic precision. If you are not familiar with his work, we recently put together a one-hour Best Of mix for our Refuge Worldwide residency which you can listen here
His new album In a Split Mirror comes out October 30th and it turns inward to explore the elusive self, its shifts and transformations over time. Listen now to the first single, Magic Mirror, along with its cute music video made by the artist himself.

Martha Rose & GRIP TIGHT announce debut album ‘Learning Love’
Having already released three collaborative singles, Martha Rose and GRIP TIGHT have spent two years in the studio together, working out the sounds of a soft nocturnal city, the kind that glows at dusk with evening light and quiet roads.
Their debut album ‘Learning Love’ comes out September 25th, built on the kind of friendship and trust that only comes from time. It will also be available on a limited cassette with a beautiful OBI strip, plus a T-shirt.
Recently they have shared ‘You Take Me To’, a new single of striking tenderness that holds fear and faith in the same trembling hand. It's a song about the terror of trust, about permitting yourself to believe in love, wrapped in soft melodies that ask only to be held.

Pictorial Candi - Secret Salts
Our back catalog holds releases we think deserve more ears than they got, so we're starting to highlight one in each newsletter. We begin with Pictorial Candi. Seven years on, Secret Salts remains a haunting companion, the sound of a mind wandering its own corridors. Candelaria Saenz Valiente's second album for the label is a summer spent suspended in synesthetic space, tender and disorienting all at once. Revisit it now! There are also a few tapes left
